mike-bierovic_alumniGive Back alumni Mike Bierovic credits much of his current pursuits and successes to the development and support he received during his time as a Give Back scholar.

“Give Something Back has enabled me to be in a situation where I can make a positive impact through my career,” Mike said.

Just as many kids could relate to, Mike focused the majority of his time outside of school to playing sports in his younger years. Education always came first but being able to balance athletics and school was extremely beneficial, Mike said.

Mike’s parents instilled in him from a young age the importance of pursuing education in order to achieve just what he wanted out of his life.

“I knew for quite a long time that I wanted to pursue a career in the medical field and my parents always supported that pursuit.”

After graduating from Give Something Back, Mike went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science in exercise science and a minor in psychology at Illinois State University. He is set to begin a master’s program for occupational therapy in the fall at Adventist University of Health Sciences in Orlando, Florida.

“I am proud to be have been involved in Give Something Back,” Mike said. “Give Back made my education so much more accessible and gave me the motivation to strive for excellence in my academics and everyday life. I am so grateful for their support over the years.”
